Red Hook #4: Blueberries for Hazel and Vivian

Grammy and Nellie took us blueberry picking at Greig Farm.  We each got a bucket, and just wandered around looking for the biggest, darkest berries.  Much fun.  We have a few Blueberries for Sal sort of moments, of the eating too many berries sort -- no bears!

Baby Jane napped in her car seat for the whole outing, and we covered her up with a light blanket to keep the bright sun out.  It was a pleasant day, not too hot at all.

We came home with a lot of blueberries, and had a whole bunch left even after snacking on the porch on berries all afternoon to bring some back for Grandpa Van.

Red Hook #3: Playing in the Sprinkler -- July 10

The weather was hot (for us, anyway) and it was fun for the girls to run through the sprinkler.  They just ran around in circles, giggling.

Red Hook #2: At the Playground

Hazel remembered these things from the last time we were in Red Hook, and was very excited to see them again.  She remembers everything.

As per usual, they found something very high to climb on and make me nervous.  It had just rained, so all the equipment was a little slippery.  Hazel and Vivian were careful though, and it was fine.

Vivian poked her head in here, and I had to get a picture.  If you look back, you can see Vivian doing this exact same thing when she was about 11 months old.

Vivian saw this and said, "It's a tiny jungle gym!"

Red Hook #1: The Day We Got There -- July 8

We left the Adirondacks for a visit with Grandma Evelyn in Red Hook.  She had all kinds of things ready for the little girls to make them feel at home, and we all had a nice time there.

Adks #19: Cathedral Pines -- July 8

Great Grammy went with us for our final little hike, to see the cathedral pines.  It's a stand of very large white pines, and it's a very doable walk (less than .25 miles!).  We had a nice time.

Adks #18: Our Last Day at the Water

Hazel had mastered the art of jumping off of the dock by the end of  the week.  I think Vivian changed back and forth between her regular and swim clothes 3 or 4 times during that last morning at the water!

Nellie and Grammy took the Kayak out too, they went a lot farther than we did!

Adks #17: Kayaking -- July 8

On our last morning, we took the Kayak out together for a little paddle.  Grammy watched Jane while Hazel, Vivian, and I went out.  We had a nice time, and found some lily pad flowers to bring back with us.  A lot different from last year, when Andrew did all the paddling for us!
