Adks# 16: Bedtime Stories -- July 7

Grammy read the big girls bedtime stories, which was a big help to me, and fun for them!

Adks # 15: Evening -- July 7

Adks #14: The Wild Center -- July 7

We drove about an hour north to Tupper Lake to find the Wild Center, a hands on museum teaching about the natural world of the Adirondacks, and the natural history of the region.  It was wonderful for the little girls, but we'll have to go back someday so they can enjoy even more of it.  So many hands on things to touch and see and do!

Putting our hands in a cloud.

Feeling a glacier.

Hazel admiring a moose.

Each of these little drawers had one tiny thing in it, maybe a feather, or a rock, or a little skull.  Hazel liked the beaver skull on that shelf.

Making rubbings with crayons.

Looking at butterflies.

Part of the museum was outdoors, and would probably be better appreciated on a cooler day, but it was neat anyhow.  There were trails, an outdoor playground, and the "Wild Walk" which put us above the trees, where we could see birds at bird feeders outside.

Jane napped in the hot sun.

Nellie and Grammy watching the bird feeders.

Checking off birds on a list.

Hazel and Vivian as spiders in a giant web suspended above the ground.

The otters were a highlight, and we saw them running around and playing.  The main exhibit was like a river that ran along the edge of the building, in a semi-circle.  Very neat.

Hazel water color painting.

Vivian putting leaves on the flannel board.

One last trip through to look at turtles, fish, and anything else that caught our eyes.

Hazel is not tall enough yet for moose antlers!

Adks #13: Go Fish with Nellie -- July 6

The big kids spent much of their time playing cards at this table, and Nellie took the time to play Go Fish with Hazel and Vivian.

Adks # 12: At the Water with Great Grammy and Grandpa Guy -- July 6

Drill, Vivi, drill!

Adks #11: Playing in the Sand -- July 5

After a little bit more floating around, the girls spent a bunch of time playing in the sand on a quiet beach.

Hazel jumped!  She worked up the courage, and then she did it over and over again throughout the week. So brave!
